Colts QB and former player Colt McCoy will return to the Indianapolis Colts next week for the first time since his injury-riddled season ended last November.
McCoy will have a chance to start against the Carolina Panthers at Lucas Oil Stadium.
He will not play Sunday at Kansas City, the team announced Tuesday.
The Colts said McCoy suffered a strained right quadriceps during training camp and was held out of practice for three weeks.
He missed the first six games of the season after suffering the injury against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 2.
The Colts won their first two games by double digits.
McCoyle was a first-round pick in 2008 out of Penn State.
